The Wolverine: Basic storyline, poor CGI, stunning action

The Wolverine is a movie that I did nit have high expectations for. Except the fact that the movie was about Wolverine, insertion thrilled for the movie. I think this movie was basically a filler and a transition for Days of Future Past. The overall storyline of the film was pretty weak which I expected. The whole feeling of the film, however, was light and enjoyable. Nothing drastic or surprising happened. The action scenes were brilliant but the CGI was just so awful. It was literally some of the worst CGI I've seen. I think the CGI killed the movie for me. Not to the point where I hated it, I mean the CGI can always be overlooked. But my final score is based in his light and entertaining thus movie was. 4/5 stars.

Despicable Me 2: poor plot structure, humorous dialogue, enjoyable movie

Despicable Me 2 was one of the funniest films this year. The storyline is focused on Gru and provides a more personal following of this hilarious character. Now, the plot isn't anything extraordinary but the rest of the movie is simply fantastic. The dialogue is hilarious, the characters are likable, and the while atmosphere is light and lively. This was a very fun movie that can have the whole family laughing. 4.5/5 stars.

World War Z: Weak plot, poor character development, decent concept

World War Z was one of those movies I saw just because I had nothing else to see. In all honesty, it was a huge letdown. The story had plenty of potential but the conflict and plot that I would have liked to see was not present. The whole concept of zombies in the first place was rather lame and I did not like the way zombies were presented. The whole storyline was barely held together, which was evident in the very first scene. Now if that was not bad enough, the ending completely ruined the whole movie. Whatever was left of the plot completely disappeared in the end which I was not too pleased about. Overall, I felt this movie was probably one of my least favorites this year and I feel I'm being generous by giving it a 2.5/5 stars.

Monsters University: Great concept, great humor, great storyline

Monsters University has been one of the most anticipated films in 2013. The main baseline and plot the story revolves on is amazing. The story will not keep you bored at all, and is probably one of the most interesting plots I've seen in a Pixar film. What really caught my attention in this film is the chemistry in the characters of Mike and Sully. Now, I personally like Mike better and was really excited to see the story revolve around Mike more than Sully. The humor is definitely present in this film, though I still believe it lacked compared to Monsters, Inc. What I probably loved the absolute best about this movie is the character development of Randall. That was extremely interesting! Anyway, my final rating for this movie will be a 4/5 stars, it is definitely worth it.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire Movie

Now, the first Hunger Games was not as good of a movie as I would have preferred.  Don't get me wrong, the books were fantastic and I loved the trilogy. What I did not like about the first film was that it was somewhat slow for me and dragged out. It didn't keep me hooked like the books did. What I felt from the trailer is somewhat similar. It looks a little dragged out and slow. What I'm expecting, however, is a great movie. I think that they purposefully limited the trailer so that when the actually movie comes out, all the good stuff will be a surprise. So yes, I am looking forward to this film and hoping it is better than the first.

Injustice Gods Among Us Game Review

Before I start, I heard that there was a videogame tie-in comic book series. I heard it was really awesome, so if you like comic books, go check it out (personally I don't follow comics). Anyway, superheroes are pretty cool and I really enjoy the whole concept of this universe where superhuman beings exist. That being said, looking at Injustice was like Christmas come early. We've got the classics from the Justice League (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, and Aquaman) and some other really amazing characters. Now even if you don't really care about superheroes or DC, the gameplay and fighting style is truly extraordinary. Injustice has packed a lot in this game with DLC's (including various skin packs and characters) with a two dimensional interactive arena. The graphics are great and you don't have to be an expert to pick up a controller and play. For those who don't like memorizing combos in fighting games, button mashing is always an option and it gets you far enough in the game. Finally, the story mode is really interesting with the concept of Superman gone bad and superheroes being separated between the Regime and Insurgency (obviously Batman leads the Insurgency against Superman). The story and concept isn't difficult to follow, the online multiplayer is great, the combos and graphics are awesome, definitely 5/5 stars.

Man of Steel

I have to admit, I was super excited to see Superman on the big screen in 2013. The last trailer I saw, however, brought my hopes down just a bit. Well, here it goes. Superman hit theaters on June 14 with a classic retelling of his origin story. Looking at Krypton with modern special effects was truly amazing. We get to see Jor-El's character development more than Superman, which is good and bad. It's good because Jor-El has always been an underrated sort of side character who doesn't get much of a story or personality. The bad thing, however, is we don't see Clark develop throughout his life as much as I would have liked. Now, this is coming from a guy who has watched and loved Smallville, where it's only about his younger years. But this leaves hope for a more familiar Superman that we all love in the sequel. The ending and plot was great, since General Zod is not the first pick any ordinary person would pick for Superman's villain (usually Lex Luthor). I felt this movie was very good and really had me hooked the whole time. If you haven't checked out Man of Steel yet, definitely make sure to do so. I've checked many other reviewers and I understand what they said, but personally I feel they are too critical of superhero films. They're expecting too much of an elaborate plot structure and plain action. I feel it's important that we appreciate all aspects that were presented, because now the sequel can be even better. 4.5/5 stars
